FINE OLD CHINESE FAMILLE ROSE PORCELAIN VASE QIANLONG MARKED 41CM (623). Very fine Chinese Famille Rose vase, Painted with. Marked on the bottom. It will be a very nice collection. Famille-rose porcelain is also called Fencai or Ruancai (meaning’soft colors’), and later as Yangcai (meaning’foreign colors’), one of the Jingdezhen kiln of the four traditional porcelains, the treasures of Chinese traditional porcelain craft with pastel porcelain varieties as main decorative techniques. It is a kind of glaze (painted in the porcelain body) by low-temperature sintering method. It was introduced during the reign of the Kangxi Emperor, possibly around 1720. It used mainly pink or purple and remained popular throughout the 18th and the 19th centuries. By the time of the reign of Yongzheng in the Qing dynasty, these shades were favored over the translucent famille verte (five-colored ware) overglaze colors that were previously used. Famille rose porcelain reached a climax of perfection at. Jingdezhen, and continued with great delicacy through the Qianlong period. In good condition, with no damage or restoration. The origin of porcelain pottery-making technology dates back 6000 years to the Neolithic period, and the related technologies and skills were continuously developed throughout early Chinese history. By the time the industry had matured during the Song Dynasty (960 – 1279), porcelain was an indispensable item for daily use in all sectors of society and was exported by land and sea. Famille rose (French: “rose family”) is the group of Chinese porcelain wares characterized by decoration painted in opaque overglaze pink enamel rose colors. These colors were known to the Chinese as yangcai (“foreign color”) because they were first introduced from Europe (around 1685). Famille rose porcelain was perfected at the famous Jingdezhen kilns under the directions of Nian Xiyao? Classic yangcai , typically decorated with figures depicting a pastoral landscape with auspicious bird and flower motifs.
