Condition: a few minute frits to rim and one plate with hairline to rim and very small chip. Chinese famille rose jug and cover, Qianlong (1736-95) decorated with’long Elizas’ on a terrace and by a pavilion overlooking a river with flowering lotus, height: 7in. 18cm; condition: neatly sealed hairline to rim and small area to spout filled, minute chip to cover restored. For an illustrated example of a similar jug and cover see’Chine de Commande’ from the Royal Museum of Arts and History, Brussels p. The shape of this jug is derived from a European silver or faience model. The European influence on the jug can also be seen in the garland of flowers around the rim of the jug and cover.
