Qianlong Chinese Porcelain Vase Famille Verte bats Antique Qing 18th C

An antique Chinese porcelain vase enamelled in the Famille Verte palette with two large reserved stylised lotus petal shaped cartouches decorated with a hollow rock, peony flowers, bamboo and butterflies. All on a ground of formal lotus and clematis floral spray scrolls. The sides are decorated with with bats and the stylised symbol (shòu) with a meaning for Longevity. The shoulder has a green and blue diaper border between four floral cartouches. The long slightly flaring neck with a raised central ribbed band is decorated with reserved floral cartouches also on a ground of formal lotus and clematis sprays. This beautiful vase was made during the reign of the Emperor Qianlong in the Qing dynasty in the 18th Century circa 1750. The base has a blank double ring mark in underglaze blue. The vase in soft or pastel colours (Ruancai) is in excellent antique condition, it has some wear to the gilding, there are no chips, cracks nor restoration. This is a most attractive item to add to any collection of antique 18th century Chinese porcelain or simply as a statement piece in any interior. Excellent Chinese 18thC Qianlong Famille Rose Tureen with Lid. Condition: In very good condition, no hairlines or restorations. Only 1 small shallow chip to the inner rim to the tureen. The origin of porcelain pottery-making technology dates back 6000 years to the Neolithic period, and the related technologies and skills were continuously developed throughout early Chinese history. By the time the industry had matured during the Song Dynasty (960 – 1279), porcelain was an indispensable item for daily use in all sectors of society and was exported by land and sea. Famille rose (French: “rose family”) is the group of Chinese porcelain wares characterized by decoration painted in opaque overglaze pink enamel rose colors. These colors were known to the Chinese as yangcai (“foreign color”) because they were first introduced from Europe (around 1685). Famille rose porcelain was perfected at the famous Jingdezhen kilns under the directions of Nian Xiyao? Classic yangcai , typically decorated with figures depicting a courtyard scene, set in a pastoral landscape with auspicious flower motifs. It measures 13.5 inches in diameter by 11.75 inches in height (34.2 cm by 29.8 cm). The bottom shows the. Archaic seal: Da Qing Qianlong Nian Zhi – “Great Qing Qianlong Period Make”.
