This is an attractive antique Chinese Famille rose polychrome export plate from the early Qianlong period, probably from the mid18th century. It is very well painted, with a major band of floral decoration with four small reserves around the rim, a diaper band within with three bats and a central rondel with precious objects. The colours include iron red with raised transparent blue, green, pink and yellow enamels, iron red linework and very fine black lines and stippling. There is no underglaze blue. The glaze is bluish with an orange peel texture and the footrim is strongly bevelled on the outside edge. Diameter is 200 mm (nearly 8 inches) in diameter and 24 mm (1 inch) tall. Condition is pretty good overall. The enamels have some wear and there is a small flea bite on the rim, which has been filled and painted. It is very hard to see, except up close. There are also two fine hairlines on the rim, which can only be seen from the reverse. I have many other antique and vintage Japanese and Chinese ceramics and other items for sale.
