Chinese famille rose melon tureen and cover, Qianlong (1736-95), in the form of a melon, with applied vine stems and leaves, decorated with scattered sprigs and sprays of flowers, the finial in the form of a grape or cherry, ; Many examples of 18th century melon tureens were made in English pottery and creamware and are thought to have been based upon Meissen and silverware prototypes. Such items may have been intended as dessert-course novelty items. Restoration to tendrils, chip to stalk, frit to base and fritting to rim of cover. A large Chinese Qianlong period (1735-1796) famille rose figural tureen
Please feel free to contact me with any questions and. Condition: The lid finial has been re-attached with an old metal pin, it is slightly loose and there are some losses around the breakage. The lid has a surface star crack to the interior. The lid has two chips and some fritting to the rim. — The base has a large crack to the rim with some losses/chipping at the top of it. The base some fritting to the handles, raised edges and rim. The base has a further small rim chip and some faults to the foot rim. Measurement: 28.7cm in width at the widest point from handle tip to handle tip approximately. >This item is described to the best of my knowledge. Famille Rose Qianlong Tureen. Jacksons antique are pleased to offer a f. Ine 18th century Qianlong period lidded tureen. The container beautifully decorated with multiple interior scenes showing adult figures in various pursuits while children play in the background. Intricate floral sprays surround the vase with the addition of bats and fruits. The lid decorated with a Dalmatian and further figures. Excellent Chinese 18thC Qianlong Famille Rose Tureen with Lid. Condition: In very good condition, no hairlines or restorations. Only 1 small shallow chip to the inner rim to the tureen. Some rubbing to the enamel and gilt. Please exam all the photos carefully which forms part of this description. Dimension: 23.5cm long including handles x 15.5cm wide x 13cm high including lid.
