The origin of porcelain pottery-making technology dates back 6000 years to the Neolithic period, and the related technologies and skills were continuously developed throughout early Chinese history. By the time the industry had matured during the Song Dynasty (960 – 1279), porcelain was an indispensable item for daily use in all sectors of society and was exported by land and sea. Famille rose (French: “rose family”) is the group of Chinese porcelain wares characterized by decoration painted in opaque overglaze pink enamel rose colors. These colors were known to the Chinese as yangcai (“foreign color”) because they were first introduced from Europe (around 1685). Famille rose porcelain was perfected at the famous Jingdezhen kilns under the directions of Nian Xiyao? Lovely pair of jardinieres is. Vase on footing, cylindrical body swelling toward a long neck with elephant heads handles. On the body of vase, depicts with relief of lotus, diaper, and rectangular ruyi to set off the splendid phoenix, which is propitious symbol in China. Under side of the vase is Qing Qianlong seal. This is a reproduction of Qing dynastys during the 1900s. Measures approximately 15½” tall, 8¼” between its widest points, 4½” diameter opening at the top, 4¾” diameter at the base, and with weight of 6 lb. Your understanding is much appreciated. As fragile item, I have carefully packed it that wrapped by bubble sheets and surrounded with packing peanuts or styrofoam in the brand new box.
