Antique Chinese Vase Famille Rose Export Qianlong Period 1700's
During The Reign of Emperor Qianlong, China Become The Richest And Most Populated Nation in The World. Fortuitously For Collectors And Connoisseurs Alike, Emperor Qianlong Was a Great Patron of The Arts And The Legacy of His Time as Emperor is Enjoyed Today by All Those Who Have Had The Pleasure of Exposure to The Chinese Decorative Arts of The Qianlong Period. With Great Foresight, Qianlong Was Sufficiently Openminded to Embrace The Arts of Other Cultures Including The Arts of The West. And Once Chinese Craftsmen Were Exposed to Various Forms of Western Art a New Genre Was Born. In My Opinion The Zenith of This Unique Aesthetic Was Achieved During The Qianlong Period. Emperor Qianlong Was a Champion of Poetry, Calligraphy And Painting And Is Credited With Composing Thousands of Works During His Long Reign. Qianlong Was Indeed A Great Patron of The Arts, a Connoisseur, Collector And Conservator. And is Considered One of China’s Greatest Emperors in Their History. The Present Example Represents a Very Unique Shape and Is Beautifully Decorated In Famille Rose Enamels in a Fashion That Was Most Desirable in The West. The Flattened Form Vase or Flask Shape Vase Depicts Two Cartouches With Chinese Figures Engaged in Various Activities Surrounded by Typically Chinese Elements. Outside The Cartouches, The Vase Has Been Decorated With Puce And Famille Rose Enamels Depicting Sprays Of Stemmed Flowers. The Entire Combination of The Decorative Elements of This Vase Demonstrate an Awareness And Knowledge of The Meissen Chinoiserie Style. It Was Clearly a Design And Decorative Technique That Was Employed to Imitate The European Factory of Meissen, Who at This Time Were Decorating Quantities of Their Porcelain Products in a Chinoiserie Genre That Was Experiencing Great Popularity. This Delightful And Remarkably Well Preserved Example Supports Two Gilded Stylised Dragon Form Handles And on Close Inspection One Can Observe The Slight Imperfections That Are Attributable To The Process Of Creation Which Was Long Before The Advent of Mechanised Porcelain Production. The Custom Made Stand Snugly Secures The Foot-rim of The Vase And Was Most Likely Produced Posthumous To The Vase, Likely in The 19th Century. A Truly Amazing Object With a Supremely Interesting History That Remains Beautiful And Fascinating to This Day. Age: Circa 1760 Qing Dynasty, Qianlong Period. Condition: Excellent- No Chips No Cracks No Restoration. Some Minor Wear to Gilding. Height: 15.4cm high. Guaranteed To Be As Described.
