Part of a family collection of Oriental items collected by our late relatives. This enamel Famille Rose milk jug dates to the 18th century. Hand painted with a outdoor scene with trees and flowers, with 5 people and 2 children, it looks like it could be a a scene of the elders teaching the children. One man is kneeling on a bed or table who could be a person of nobility so perhaps a outing to show respect, the man to the far left is wearing a white robe who looks like he could be a monk or religious figure, we are not sure but an interesting scene. The back panel were the handle is shows a single bird perched in a tree. The handle is metal and shows this item was held high in regard as this would have been a replacement handle fitted as a replacement when the original handle broke, a costly repair and most probably done in the 18th century. Size stands 4 tall, good condition. Please feel free to ask any questions, sent well wrapped and recorded. The item “Antique Chinese 18th Century Porcelain Enamel Famille Rose Milk Jug.
