These sets which could be immense 300-500 pieces depicted scenes of court life and in some case members of the Imperial family can be identified in the scenes. The quality of this vase clearly is of that type. Measures 4 1/8 inches high X 2 3/4 inches wide missing lid, chips to rim and base else in very good condition with bright vibrant enamels showing minimal wear. The painting shows a man giving a woman a’piggyback’ – that is the English term for giving somebody a’ride’ on your back. They are having a good time and 3 other people are watching in a courtyard. The handle portrays a dragon eating its tail. Very good condition, some slight frits to the rim. Good gilding, some slight paint losses. No hairlines, no restoration.
