C1780, UNUSUAL ANTIQUE 18thC CHINESE QIANLONG FAMILLE ROSE PORCELAIN PUNCH BOWL. DECORATED WITH SCENES – ROMANCE OF THE WESTERN CHAMBER. A well decorated and unusual Chinese. Rose porcelain punch bowl, dating to the 18. Decorated in polychrome enamels. Within two celadon quatrefoil shaped panels. With scenes from `The Romance of the Western Chamber` by the Yuan Dynasty Playwright Wang. The remainder of the outer surface is decorated with. Two further leaf shaped panels containing. Amongst foliage, the area in-between with numerous floral sprays in. Enhanced with overglaze enamels and gold gilt. He central inner surface of the bowl is painted with a lady playing a flute, a playful dog nearby. The upper rim of the bowl is gently scalloped, an unusual feature, with a light tan glaze to the edge, and is set off with a band of floral and geometric decoration in underglaze blue to the inner edge. The foot rim is unglazed, and the bowl is presented on a later carved ebonised wood stand. Height: 10.2 cm or 4 inches. Diameter: 23.5 cm or 9 1/4 inches. Unpackaged weight (bowl only): 800 grams. In good antique condition, without. Notable damage, just some expected wear and a shallow sliver chip to the outer edge of the rim (please see gallery image 6).
