HUGE Chinese Charger Blue & White Scholar’s Porcelain Qing Period 19th C. Scholar & Children’ Blue & White Porcelain Charger. Unmarked on the base, Qing Period (Late 19th Century). (The Stand is not included). Finely potted, of elegantly curving charger form, the steep, gently flaring sides sweeping to an everted rim, all supported on a slightly splayed base, the interior superbly enameled with a scene featuring the scholar’s in the room watching children plays, all surrounded by varying diaper border as Buddhist symbols. FAIR – OLD crack (28CM WIDE) in the middle of the border and the base, 1CM x chip on the reverse top rim with hairline (4CM), also X-shape crack on the top border (9CM WIDE), with some enamel loss, scratches and wear.
