Antique Qianlong Period Chinese Famille Rose Porcelain Spoon. Up for sale is the antique famille rose porcelain spoon marked Caihua Tang Zhi. Referred to a location in the Forbidden City in Beijing established during the Qianlong period to produce high quality imperial porcelains. The spoon features a long curving handle flamboyantly hand painted and enameled with floral and fruits, all of which have auspicious meanings. The two Chinese characters are marked on the handle and spoon bowl with the meanings of Longevity and Happiness, respectively. Five bats are painted in red on the back symbolizing Five blessings, including. Long life, wealth, health, love of virtue, and a tranquil, natural death. The underside of the spoon also shows typical tiny kiln marks appeared during firing when suspended on stilts. Measures: 6 ¼ long x 2 wide (across widest parts) x 1 3/16 high (across highest parts when inverted). Condition: Excellent, with no chips, cracks or any damages, except with mild wear to enamel, consistent with age and use.
