Antique Chinese Qianlong Porcelain Famille Rose Large Mug / Tankard

1487 Chinese Famille Rose Mug. A Chinese porcelain export ware famille rose large mug or tankard. It is painted with bold floral forms issuing from stalks. Some of the enamel is raised giving texture to the design. It has a substantial strap handle painted with sprigs and decoratively finished to the bottom terminal. The ground is glazed in a slightly greyish white. The body is of porcelain with a light olive translucency. There are of course no makers marks which is as expected for this item, and this style is generally considered to be mid to late 18th century in date. Some old restoration to the foot rim with over painting to hide the joins where pieces have been reset, now aging a little and visible upon close inspection but still fine for display. A graze to the rim leaving a rough patch. Enamels are generally good and without significant wear for the period. Some underglaze marks and light discolouration mostly confined to the handle and lower body areas. If for any reason you are unhappy with your item please let us know as soon as possible, and we will do our best to put things right.
