This is a pair of 18th century Qianlong era famille rose porcelain figurines – laughing man or boy, handpainted and glazed in rich colors – one of imperial yellow, the other green, both, in one hand holding an auspacious object called “Ruyi” and the other holding a gourd or seemingly a fruit. Both wear traditional Chinese silk garbs with a bat – ” fu” design and typical QIng Manchu collars. The garb are shown with finely stiched dotted lines The green on, on the back again shows a bat – fu, bat similar to that of the sound happiness or luck symbol, and the yellow one, on the back are dotted with florial designs and green leaves. Bat patterns are used to represent the five blessings: health, long life, prosperity, love of virtue. This is a very rare pair that come with two different colors.

Large Chinese Antique Famille Rose bowl, Qianlong, 18th century #1665. Beautiful large bowl decorated in famille rose, Qianlong period. Condition: Checked with UV lamp. The bowl has a firing crack to the rim which does not lit up under UV light (manufacturing flaw). Chip to the foot ring. This also includes to carefully look at all pictures. The judgement of the condition and age of the object is based on our personal opinion and experience. If you have a different opinion, we are happy to discuss with you. A rare Chinese export porcelain famille rose plate, showing the Judgement of Paris design, from the 18th Century Qianlong period Qing Dynasty. The delicately painted figures derive from a painting by Jean Paul Rubens. This plate measures 9 inches diameter. It has a short stress line about 1 inch long, and glaze peeling off. No further chip or restoration. The last picture shows a sale result from Sothebys for a similar plate 10 years ago.
