The Qianlong Emperor (Chien-lung Emperor); born Hongli The fourth son of the Yongzeng Emperor, he reigned officially from 11 October 1735 to 8 Feb 1796.1 On 8 February, he abdicated in favor of his son, the Jianging Emperor a filial act in order not to reign longer than his grandfather, the illustrious Kangxi Emperor Despite his retirement, however, he retained ultimate power until his death in 1799. OLD CHINESE FAMILLE ROSE PORCELAIN BRUSH POT QIANLONG MARKED WITH PEACH (534). Very fine Chinese Famille Rose. Marked on the bottom. It will be a very nice collection. Famille-rose porcelain is also called Fencai or Ruancai (meaning’soft colors’), and later as Yangcai (meaning’foreign colors’), one of the Jingdezhen kiln of the four traditional porcelains, the treasures of Chinese traditional porcelain craft with pastel porcelain varieties as main decorative techniques. It is a kind of glaze (painted in the porcelain body) by low-temperature sintering method. It was introduced during the reign of the Kangxi Emperor, possibly around 1720. It used mainly pink or purple and remained popular throughout the 18th and the 19th centuries. By the time of the reign of Yongzheng in the Qing dynasty, these shades were favored over the translucent famille verte (five-colored ware) overglaze colors that were previously used. Famille rose porcelain reached a climax of perfection at. Jingdezhen, and continued with great delicacy through the Qianlong period. In good condition, with no damage or restoration.
