A Superb & Very Rare 18th Century Qianlong Famille Rose Helmet Shaped Milk Jug

A Superb & Very Rare Mid to Late 18th Century Qianlong Famille Rose Helmet Shaped Milk Jug. Simply stunning and incredibly rare & original Qianlong period famille rose helmet-form porcelain milk jug with gold and enamel overpainting in fabulous condition. The jug has a curved handle and flared edge, and bears a cartouche featuring an outdoor family scene. The cartouches are surrounded by latticework and medallions with landscapes. The condition is quite amazing. There is a barely visible hairline crack to the inner rim of the jug (not visible from the outside – see pic 10) and the gilt is quite worn in places, particularly to the handle where it is virtually all gone. I also suspect the thick gold gilt band to the inner rim is not original and was probably added at a later date. Other than that there are no cracks or chips and no signs of any restoration at all. Its a wonderful piece in wonderful condition. A museum piece or one for the serious collectors. The jug is 14.5cm high (from base to the top of the handle), about 16.5cm long (from handle to spout) and 8cm wide (the diameter of the round base). It weighs 375 grams. Rare Antique Chinese Canton Enamel Copper Lotus Dish Famille Verte Shou Lao

Extremely rare antique Chinese Canton enamel famille verte dish in the form of a lotus blossom. The central roundel depicts the God of Longevity, Shou Lao. Shoulao (Shou Lao) is recognizable by his tall, over sized forehead. Representing wisdom and long beard representing long life. He is sitting at a rock formation beneath a tall pine tree. He has a gourd containing elixir tied to his staff and a scroll in his right hand. It is quite rare to see Shou Lao with a scroll. To the right of Shou Lao there are two deer, which also are symbols of long life. To the left there is a figure possibly a scholar, either sitting or kneeling. The radiating petals in’famille verte’ palette are decorated with pink flowers and blue-green foliage. The reverse is turquoise enamel. The unusual shape and colours of this dish make me think. That it might be from the Qianlong period (1736-95). At the widest point it measures 19cm in diameter. Condition: The outer border has enamel loss and cracks which reveal the copper below. The centre roundel does not have any enamel loss, but has fine star cracks. This item is described as accurately as possible but.
