For sale is an antique Chinese porcelain soup tureen and lid, dating to the early Qianlong period, circa 1740. Based on a contemporaneous Meissen porcelain design. Lovely famille rose decoration consisting of 8 birds, castles, and flowers. Handles are fantastic colorful faces with feather headpieces. No cracks or repairs (UV checked), fritting around the faces and fritting/chipping on the top handle, see photos. Tureen measures approximately 13 5/8″ (34.61cm) handle-to-handle, and 11″ (27.94cm) tall. Large Chinese octagonal famille rose tureen and cover, Qianlong (1736-95), with moulded hare-head handles, the body decorated with sprays of flowers issuing from rockwork, the shallow domed cover similarly decorated with floral sprays above a lambrequin border to the rim and flame finial within a border of gilt cracked ice pattern against an orange ground, the spreading foot similarly decorated with a wide band of cracked ice interspersed by shaped cartouches containing flowers to the canted corners; diameter of basin: 11 ¾ in. , height: 6 ¾ in. ; condition: good; tiny fritting to foot, underside of handles, minute chips to underside of cover.
