Antique Chinese Canton Enamel Copper Lotus Lobed Dish Famille Verte Shou Lao
Extremely rare antique Chinese Canton enamel famille verte dish in the form of a lotus blossom, with lobed edges. The central roundel depicts the God of Longevity, Shou Lao. Shoulao (Shou Lao) is recognizable by his tall, over sized forehead. Representing wisdom and long beard representing long life. He is sitting at a rock formation beneath a tall pine tree. He has a gourd containing elixir tied to his staff and a scroll in his right hand. It is quite rare to see Shou Lao with a scroll. To the right of Shou Lao there are two deer, which also are symbols of long life. To the left there is a figure possibly a scholar, either sitting or kneeling. The radiating petals in’famille verte’ palette are decorated with pink flowers and blue-green foliage. The reverse is turquoise enamel. The unusual shape and colours of this dish make me think. That it might be from the Qianlong period (1736-95). At the widest point it measures 19cm in diameter. Condition: The outer border has enamel loss and cracks which reveal the copper below. The centre roundel does not have any enamel loss, but has fine star cracks. This item is described as accurately as possible but. Please see all the photos as they form and are an important part of the description. Thank you for viewing.

Antique Qianlong Chinese Teapot Famille Verte Handpainted Qing
Featured here is a gorgeous antique Chinese handpainted teapot. In a rudimentary effort to translate the characters on the underside, we believe they are these characters: meaning something like “made in a dry and prosperous year”, but this mark is more commonly associated with the Qianlong period, made in the mid to late 1700’s of the Qing dynasty. In good condition for its age, but does have a chip on the spout, gold fade, roughness on the lid, and spots of wear. See pictures for closer detail. Measures 8.5″ wide, 5″ tall, weighs 1 lb 1 oz prior to packaging. Please message us with any questions! We love to hear from you and typically answer within minutes from 10 a. New items added daily. LARGE Chinese Platter Famille Verte Qilin Porcelain Qing Guangxu (1875-1908)
Enamels, gold, and underglaze blue, with. Mandarin figures and lotus plants bordered by narrow bands on the rim. Qilin and various animals amongst wooden plants reserved at the well on a trellis-flower border, and red marks on the reverse back. The finely painted decoration on this deep dish is emblematic of perseverance, harmony, and marital bliss on Chinese culture. Its design is representative of a group of closely related. Wares, made during the first two decades of the nineteenth century. The delicate painting on’Qilin’ is said to be the unicorn, a description that some scholars dislike intensely as the body of the qilin figure has scales and two horns, quite unlike the unicorn of the West. One of the the four great mythical animals of China, it is recorded that this animal’s body resembles that of a deer with scales, horns in the centre of its head, a tail of an ox, a forehead of a wolf, hooves of a horse, and backward antlers. The qilin is a symbol for happiness, and legends maintain that it will bring many sons to the family and those sons will become successful scholars. Acquired from the charming Tudor Manor House in Southern England, this unique collection of high-quality porcelain pieces is now offered for sale. FAIR-Visible damage: repaired and glued, 1 x U-shaped crack approx. 20cm length x 6cm width, factory fault spots, lots of small fritting on the edge of the rim, light scratches and loss of gilding, otherwise, it is in fair condition.
