Up for your consideration is this stunning piece of antique famille rose porcelain. This 19th century Chinese Qianlong large tall open console floor vase Jardiniere in cobalt blue, with gold gilded scrolled floral design with a medallion center featuring a floral garden with bird’s The illustration is on both sides with a little different floral garden scene. Made 19th to early 20th century. On each side of the tall floor vase is a gilded scroll and floral design over deep cobalt blue back ground. The vase has foo-dog gilded gold elephant designed handled with gold rings. The antique tall floor vase measures 24″ tall x 12″ across from handle to handle and 5 1/8 in diameter opening on the top. It is a stunning artistic piece with no chips or cracks. It has a few scuff marks on the elephant handles. It has amazing crisp and bright color. Came with gold brass metal lid?

The Qing dynasty, officially the Great Qing, was a Manchu-led imperial dynasty of China and the last orthodox dynasty in Chinese history. It emerged from the Later Jin dynasty founded by the Jianzhou Jurchens, a Tungusic-speaking ethnic group who unified other Jurchen tribes to form a new “Manchu” ethnic identity. Inscriptions of various kinds were often painted on Chinese porcelain. The useful practice of painting reign marks was only common during the eras of the Ming (1368 – 1644) and the Qing (1644 – 1911) dynasties. The marks tell us who the emperor was when the porcelain was produced. Reign marks were usually painted in cobalt blue on the base of the piece but can also be on the neck or the main body. The marks were usually written in ordinary Chinese scripts. However, during the Qing dynasty, seal marks were often used instead. The presence of a painted reign mark does not mean a piece is authentic – any Chinese high school student can paint characters in their own language. Famille Rose Gilded Vase. Height = 14.5 inches tall. Width at base = 6.5 inches across. Width at rim = 6.5 inches across. Width at widest point (shoulder) = 7.5 inches across. Width inside at narrowest opening = 3.75 inches across. Beautiful vase with incised lines and raised, textured hand-painted imagery depicting court scenes with robed men and women, birds, butterflies, chrysanthemums, tree branches, other greenery and scrolls. Embellished with gilded Foo Dog handles, gilded salamanders / lizards, and gilding between the design panels. No chips, cracks or repairs visible to the eye or felt to the touch.
