Finely potted, of elegantly curving charger form, the steep, gently flaring sides sweeping to an everted rim, all supported on a slightly splayed base, the interior superbly enameled with a scene featuring the famous. A fine and rare famille-rose’Dragon’ brush, seal of Qianlong (1736-1795)

The bulbous body with a long cylindrical handle surmounted with a globular finial. Brightly enamelled in puce with two ferocious five-clawed pink dragons chasing flaming pearl. Their facial features, scales and flowing mane picked out in gilding. The mythical creatures each with a scaly body terminating in muscular legs and sharp claws. The beasts writhing amidst in underglaze blue stylized scrolling lingzhi-shaped clouds against a milky-white ground. The tip of the terminal with an underglaze-blue six-character seal mark. The brush is missing. This brush ranks among the finest produced in Jingdezhen for the court during the reign of Qianlong. Porcelain brush handles were rare as opposed to brush handles made out of jade, bamboo, wood and cloisonné. Brush handles were made out of porcelain for the court since the early 15th century. The form of the present brush, with its bulbous mouth, seems to originate in late Ming dynasty brush handles. 7 Inches / 18 CM High. 1 1/4 Inch / 3 CM Top. 3/4 Inch / 2 CM Middle. 2 Inches / 5 CM Body. 1 1/2 Inch / 4 CM Bottom. Antique Rare Chinese Famille Rose Ground Enamel panel on Porcelain. The yellow area has a detailed SCAFFIATO. Excellent quality decoration all hand painted and hand drawn outlines in opaque famille rose enamels. The front panel features a bird carrying a sprig and beautiful flowers and leaves. The inside and underside of the vase is plain white with very few flecks of brown throughout the vase. There are no chips or Cracks. One area on the rim is missing the yellow enamel paint, and there is some discoloration in the yellow area to the side of the ground enamel area. Large Rare Chinese Export White Famille Rose Gu Vase Qianlong Period (1736-1795)

An exceptionally large and rare Chinese export white famille rose’gu’ vase, exemplary of Chinese export decoration wares catered to the European market taste. The age of the vase can be dated to Qianlong period as the decorative motifs and styles are stereotypical of the period. The form of the vase,’Gu’ form for vases with wide top rim and foot with slender body is originated from archaic Gu vessel which were designed and used for wine drinking. Vase like this usually come in pairs with additional complementary pair of lidded jars making a full set. Garnitures set like these were extremely popular in Europe and the stylistic designs of export wares were often manufactured to the taste of European market by Canton workshops commissioned by the East India Company. The manufacturing process of this kind of vase is multi-stepped and complex. Such famille rose decorations often utilizes imported European color pigments and materials, giving these export wares a unique and distinguishable look. Overall Height: 18 inch / 45.7 cm.
