Antique Chinese Canton Enamel Copper Lotus Lobed Dish Famille Verte Shou Lao
Extremely rare antique Chinese Canton enamel famille verte dish in the form of a lotus blossom, with lobed edges. The central roundel depicts the God of Longevity, Shou Lao. Shoulao (Shou Lao) is recognizable by his tall, over sized forehead. Representing wisdom and long beard representing long life. He is sitting at a rock formation beneath a tall pine tree. He has a gourd containing elixir tied to his staff and a scroll in his right hand. It is quite rare to see Shou Lao with a scroll. To the right of Shou Lao there are two deer, which also are symbols of long life. To the left there is a figure possibly a scholar, either sitting or kneeling. The radiating petals in’famille verte’ palette are decorated with pink flowers and blue-green foliage. The reverse is turquoise enamel. The unusual shape and colours of this dish make me think. That it might be from the Qianlong period (1736-95). At the widest point it measures 19cm in diameter. Condition: The outer border has enamel loss and cracks which reveal the copper below. The centre roundel does not have any enamel loss, but has fine star cracks. This item is described as accurately as possible but. Please see all the photos as they form and are an important part of the description. Thank you for viewing.

Mandarin Ducks Chinese Porcelain Famille Verte Gilt Plate Kangxi (1662-1722)
Enamels, gold, and underglaze blue, with mandarin ducks and lotus plants bordered by narrow bands on the rim, alternating cartouches of carp and crayfish amongst water plants reserved at the well on a trellis-diaper ground, central scene within a ruyi-edged roundel of two mandarin ducks amongst lotus plants, flowering prunus branches, trellis-diaper border, and double ring on the reverse. For an identical dish with the same dimension, presently in the Reeves Center Collection, see Thomas V. Chinese Export Porcelain in the Reeves Center Collection at Washington and Lee University. Another dish is in the collection of the Topkapi Sarah Museum and published by Ayers and Krahl in. Chinese Ceramics in the Topkapi Saray Museum, A complete catalogue. The finely painted decoration on this deep dish is emblematic of perseverance, harmony, and marital bliss on Chinese culture. Its design is representative of a group of closely related. Wares, made during the first two decades of the eighteenth century. The delicate painting on many of these pieces appears, as Ayers suggests, to emulate the refined techniques used by Chinese artists who worked on silk. Visible damage: repaired and glued, 1 x V-shaped crack approx. 7.5cm length x 4cm width, and 1 x crack across the plate approx. 21.5cm long, factory fault spots, lots of small fritting on the edge of the rim, light scratches and loss of gilding, otherwise, it is in fair condition. You will be happy with the careful packaging Without extra charges. Fixed Price ; however the offers are. Each item is a beautiful representation of traditional Chinese craftsmanship and would make a stunning addition to any collection or home decor.
