LARGE Chinese Platter Famille Verte Qilin Porcelain Qing Guangxu (1875-1908)
Enamels, gold, and underglaze blue, with. Mandarin figures and lotus plants bordered by narrow bands on the rim. Qilin and various animals amongst wooden plants reserved at the well on a trellis-flower border, and red marks on the reverse back. The finely painted decoration on this deep dish is emblematic of perseverance, harmony, and marital bliss on Chinese culture. Its design is representative of a group of closely related. Wares, made during the first two decades of the nineteenth century. The delicate painting on’Qilin’ is said to be the unicorn, a description that some scholars dislike intensely as the body of the qilin figure has scales and two horns, quite unlike the unicorn of the West.
